Maine Coon Cat Tree 211cm | XL Cat Tower – Cat-Cave

How long will a Maine Coon live?

PDSA gives Maine Coons an approximate 12–15 year lifespan. Learn how to plan long-term care without treating a breed range as a deadline.

PDSA lists an approximate Maine Coon lifespan of 12 to 15 years. An individual may live for a shorter or longer time depending on health, genetics, environment and care. Use those ranges for long-term planning rather than treating a particular birthday as a deadline. Budget for routine veterinary care throughout life and reassess equipment as mobility, vision or preferences change. A cat that once loved a high perch may later appreciate easier intermediate steps and a comfortable lower resting place.

Those changes do not justify assuming that every new behaviour is simply old age. Reduced jumping, changes in grooming or altered appetite deserve attention from a vet. Keeping a record of normal habits can help you spot a change earlier and explain it clearly during an appointment. Keep vaccination records, previous test results and medication details together, so a new practice or holiday carer can understand the cat's history quickly.
