Floor-to-Ceiling Cat Tree 230–250cm – Modern Vine

Should I measure for a ceiling cat tree before or after new carpet?

Use the finished floor height and the manufacturer’s permitted surface conditions when measuring after carpet or flooring changes.

Use the final installed floor level for the measurement that determines product compatibility. New carpet, underlay or another flooring change can alter the distance to the ceiling and the way the base is supported.

If you are buying before the flooring is finished, treat preliminary measurements as planning information and recheck before installation. Ask the tree manufacturer whether the intended flooring type is allowed and whether any particular base arrangement is required. Do not compensate for a changed height by forcing an adjustment beyond its stated limits. A compressible surface may also behave differently from the old floor, so the original setup should not be assumed suitable after renovation. Keep the tree out of use during the work, then follow the installation and inspection procedure again once the finished surface is in place.

For illustration, flooring that raises the finished surface by 2 cm reduces a 245 cm floor-to-ceiling gap to 243 cm. The final measurement still needs checking in place; the calculation does not account for unevenness or compression.
