Maine Coon Cat House 70cm | Two-Tier Wicker Bed – Wicker Maison

Can Maine Coons live with other cats?

Maine Coons can live with other cats, but introductions and resource access matter. Learn to recognise tension and offer separate choices.

A Maine Coon may live successfully with other cats, but shared breed or similar size does not guarantee friendship. History, personality, available space and introductions all matter. Give each cat access to its own resources and places to withdraw rather than making every activity happen in one crowded corner. Introductions should be gradual, with separation and controlled exposure according to reputable behaviour guidance. Watch for subtle tension as well as obvious fighting: one cat may block a doorway, monopolise a perch or prevent the other reaching a tray.

Buying a larger tower alone will not necessarily resolve that problem. Spread resting and scratching opportunities around the home and seek professional advice if conflict persists. Some cats prefer to live without feline company, so the goal should be a comfortable arrangement for both individuals rather than a forced friendship. Draw the routes between food, trays and resting places; if every route crosses a narrow doorway controlled by another cat, rearrange the resources.
