Floor-to-Ceiling Cat Tree 230–250cm – Modern Vine

How far should cat climbing furniture be from lights and ceiling fans?

Position cat-wall routes outside the reach of fans, pendant lights and cords, following appliance clearances and allowing for a moving cat.

Map the full reach and movement of light fittings, fan blades and hanging cords before placing any raised platform nearby. Include where the cat could stand, stretch or jump, not just the dimensions of the shelf.

A fan that is normally switched off can still become a hazard when someone uses it later. Do not rely on remembering to disable equipment whenever the cat is present. Follow the appliance's clearance requirements and choose a furniture position that keeps the climbing route well away from it. If the room cannot provide that separation, use a lower or differently located resting arrangement. Pendant lights also need consideration even without moving blades, because a cat may reach their cable or shade. Plan for ordinary household use, including cleaning and maintenance, rather than a single carefully staged moment.

There is no universal shelf-to-fan distance that suits every room. Account for the cat standing or jumping from the highest accessible surface as well as the appliance's full operating envelope; relocate the route if those areas can overlap.
