Allow enough space to reach beneath the base, around scratching posts and behind the upper platforms without repeatedly dismantling the structure. Think about the tools you actually use: a vacuum head, handheld attachment or cloth needs access to different areas.
Check whether cushions can be lifted out without moving the whole tree. A narrow gap that traps fur may be frustrating even when the product technically fits. Also consider whether you can inspect anchors and bolts in the chosen location. Maintenance access is part of a workable layout, not an optional extra. If the tree is heavy, do not plan to drag it out every week as the only cleaning method. Choose a position with reachable surfaces and follow the maker's moving instructions whenever a larger clean requires repositioning.
Measure the width of your vacuum head or the attachment you intend to use. A 5 cm gap will not accommodate a 25 cm floor head, so plan a suitable smaller tool or a more accessible position.
