Maine Coon Cat House 70cm | Two-Tier Wicker Bed – Wicker Maison

Is it better to have one or two Maine Coons?

One or two Maine Coons? Consider existing bonds, individual preferences, separate resources and the ongoing cost of caring for each cat.

One is not automatically lonely, and two are not automatically happier. The right arrangement depends on the cats' relationship and your ability to provide enough space, resources and individual attention. A genuinely bonded pair may benefit from staying together, whereas an established solitary adult may find a new cat stressful. Discuss this with the breeder or rescue rather than assuming that two kittens always solve future companionship needs. Two large cats also mean greater ongoing costs and equipment requirements.

They may share some resting areas while still needing separate feeding, toileting and retreat options. If you choose a pair, budget for each cat's veterinary care and make sure you can transport both safely. A second cat should be welcomed as an individual commitment, not purchased as a substitute for time you cannot spend with the first. For an established pair, ask which activities they genuinely share and which they prefer separately before choosing shared beds or a single large tower.
