The new bed may differ from your cat's preferred resting place in position, texture, space, access or exposure. Start by comparing those details instead of assuming the cat dislikes all beds. A cushion placed in a busy walkway offers a different experience from the quiet sofa corner your cat already chooses. Check that the usable area is large enough and that the entrance or bolster is easy to cross. Allow voluntary exploration and keep familiar resting places available. A small familiar blanket may help if it does not obstruct the design. Try one practical adjustment at a time so you can see what changes. Do not repeatedly put the cat inside or hold them there. Some cats continue to rotate between several sleeping places, so occasional use can still be worthwhile without the new bed becoming their exclusive resting spot.
Start with the easiest difference to test. If the cat sleeps on a familiar blanket, place that blanket on the new bed only where the design permits, keeping the position unchanged so the result is interpretable.
