Maine Coon Cat Tree 185cm | Large Cat Tower – Taj-MeowHall

Can two cats pass each other on a cat tree?

Check platform width, posts and alternative routes so two cats can use a tower without being forced past one another.

Two cats can pass comfortably only if the platforms and connecting route provide enough usable space for their bodies, rather than merely meeting a weight rating. Product photographs rarely show this clearly, so compare platform dimensions and the position of posts, beds and openings. A wide platform can still contain a narrow passage if a large cave occupies most of it. Think through a realistic situation: one cat lying across the middle level while the other descends from above.

Is there another route, or would the second cat need to squeeze past, jump over its housemate or leap directly to the floor? Choose a layout that offers alternatives appropriate to both cats' abilities. Once assembled, observe movement without trying to place the cats together. Hesitation, repeated detours or waiting at a single step can reveal a practical access problem even without obvious fighting.

On a sketch, mark the space occupied by a resting cat and trace the second cat's descent around it. If every route crosses that resting outline, the design needs another accessible route or a separate climbing location.
