How do I measure the usable centre of a flower cat perch?

Measure a flower cat perch’s supported resting centre separately from its petals, cushion and overall decorative diameter.

The usable centre varies by product, so it should be measured or confirmed separately from the overall flower diameter. Ask for the flat or gently shaped area intended to support the cat's body, excluding decorative tips and any steeply raised border.

If the bed includes a cushion, find out whether the quoted measurement refers to the cushion, the supporting board or the outside of the petals. Compare that information with your cat's resting position rather than just its weight. A cat that stretches lengthways needs a different shape from one that usually curls tightly. An overhead image with a measurement guide is particularly useful here. Avoid estimating the centre from a photograph containing an unknown-sized cat. When the seller cannot provide the internal measurement, that uncertainty should remain part of the buying decision.

If the centre is oval, record both its longest and shortest internal measurements. A single diameter only describes a circle; using one number for an oval can hide the narrower direction that limits turning space.
