Look for written load information that identifies the exact product and the component being rated. Decorative names such as giant, luxury or large are not weight specifications.
Ask whether the stated figure applies to the whole tree, an individual flower bed or a separate basket, and whether wall fixing is part of the intended setup. If the information appears only in a promotional image, request confirmation that it matches the current version. Do not infer capacity from the diameter of a stem-like post or from photographs showing a large cat. You also need to know how the furniture is assembled and supported. Once the rating is clear, compare usable space and access as separate requirements. A perch can be rated for a cat's weight while still being too cramped for comfortable resting or turning.
Save the product version and the seller's written explanation beside your order. If a listing describes the tree as suitable for several cats but supplies only one unexplained weight figure, ask what simultaneous arrangement that figure permits.
