Large Cat Water Fountain 2.5L – Stainless Steel

How should I change my Maine Coon's food?

Change a Maine Coon’s food gradually, monitor what is eaten and avoid rushing a transition or withholding familiar food to force acceptance.

Cats Protection advises changing food gradually over a week or more, unless your vet gives a different medical plan. Start with a little new food and increase it only while the cat eats comfortably. Avoid changing several things at once, such as food, bowl location and feeding schedule, because it becomes harder to understand a reaction. Keep track of what is offered and eaten, and watch for digestive changes or refusal.

A cat should not be forced into accepting a new food by being left without an acceptable meal for a prolonged period. If it stops eating or seems unwell, contact your vet. Keep enough of the current food available during the transition so you are not rushed by an empty bag. For a newly adopted cat, maintaining the familiar diet initially can reduce unnecessary disruption while other parts of its environment are changing.
