The empty strip beside a kitchen cupboard can look like the perfect place for a cat feeding stand. Then someone opens the cupboard, pulls out a drawer or stands at the worktop. Measuring the stand itself is only the beginning; you also need to check how the kitchen moves around it.

Test the cupboard in use
Mark a 40cm line where you expect the stand to sit. Confirm the full depth for the selected style before treating that line as a complete footprint. Open nearby doors and drawers through their normal movement, including any low drawer that might pass above the proposed feeding position.
Consider the person using the cupboard as well as the moving door. A feeding stand may clear the hinge perfectly yet sit exactly where someone puts their feet. Watch an ordinary meal-preparation routine and see whether the location creates repeated interruptions for your cat.
The 16cm overall stand height is not a reason to assume a door can pass safely above the bowls or an eating cat. Check the complete arrangement rather than fitting the product into a narrow leftover gap.
Allow room for the diner and the washing-up
The two ceramic bowls are each 14cm in diameter and 5cm deep. Compare those dimensions with the food you serve, but also picture your cat standing at either bowl. A large cat needs room to approach and leave without being squeezed between your legs and the cabinetry.
Make sure you can remove the bowls without lifting the entire stand over other objects. Follow the care instructions for the ceramic pieces and bamboo frame separately. A location is less useful if routine cleaning requires emptying the surrounding cupboard every time.
Choose a quieter position if the kitchen stays busy
A coordinated stand can look tidy without belonging in the kitchen's busiest working area. Try a less interrupted position if cupboard access repeatedly crosses the feeding spot, and retain other water locations where appropriate to your existing routine.
