Maine Coon Cat Tree 211cm | XL Cat Tower – Cat-Cave

What should I buy before bringing home a Maine Coon kitten?

Prepare a calm kitten setup with feeding, litter, travel, hiding, sleeping and scratching essentials before choosing optional furniture.

Before bringing home a Maine Coon kitten, prioritise everyday essentials and a simple, reassuring setup. Arrange appropriate food and water provision, accessible litter facilities, a secure carrier, comfortable bedding, a hiding option and suitable scratching and play opportunities. Ask the breeder or rescue about familiar food, litter and routines so the first days do not involve unnecessary changes. For furniture, choose stability and manageable access before height or elaborate features.

A kitten should be able to use the initial arrangement without needing to reach an adult-sized top platform. Check the actual dimensions and any age restrictions on products, especially automated equipment. You can add more specialised furniture once you see how the kitten moves and rests. Plan veterinary care and routine handling alongside purchases. A long shopping list does not compensate for a calm introduction, consistent care and a home prepared for a curious young animal.

Create a ready-on-arrival area before delivery day. Put the carrier, familiar bedding and the chosen litter setup in that plan, then check that the kitten can move between them without encountering an unfinished assembly or loose fittings.
