Maine Coon Cat Tree 185cm | Large Cat Tower – Taj-MeowHall

Can I replace a worn sisal post?

Identify a compatible replacement sisal post and distinguish worn rope from damage to the supporting core.

You may be able to replace a worn sisal post if a compatible component is available for the exact tree. Check the model, post length, connection type and part identifier rather than ordering solely by outside diameter. A post forms part of the structure as well as providing a scratching surface, so an apparently similar substitute can alter fit or support. Ask the manufacturer or retailer which replacement is approved and follow the disassembly instructions.

Keep the cat away until the work is complete and the tree has been checked. If damage extends into the post core or its connection, replacing only the rope may not address the problem. Do not remove a supporting post and continue using the remaining structure unless the maker explicitly permits that configuration. The replacement should restore the intended design rather than create a new one.

Describe whether the rope is frayed, the core is cracked or the end connection is loose when requesting a spare. Those are different conditions, and a cosmetic rewrap would not address damage within the supporting post or its fittings.
