Visible cat hair can stand out on dark clothing. Before reaching for tape, water or a dryer, check the garment’s care label and choose a tool suitable for its fabric.
A quick clothing check
- Place the garment on a clean, stable surface or hanger so you can inspect it.
- Test a suitable lint-removal tool on a hidden area.
- Work gently according to the tool’s instructions, stopping if the fabric snags or its texture changes.
- Check the back, shoulders and seat as well as the front.
An adhesive lint roller or garment brush may suit some clothes. Our reusable hair roller is intended for suitable dry fabric surfaces; it is not automatically suitable for every knit, wool garment or delicate finish. Check compatibility rather than increasing pressure to remove stubborn hair.
Avoid rushed cleaning experiments

When clothes need washing
Remove accessible loose hair first where practical, then wash using the permitted programme. Washing may remove some hair, but results vary with the garment, load and machine. Our laundry guide covers preparation and appliance care.
Reduce repeat clean-ups
Store clean clothes in a closed wardrobe or drawer, and avoid laying an outfit on a favourite pet resting place. A washable cover on that spot can make upkeep easier. Follow a comfortable grooming routine for your cat without expecting it to eliminate shedding.
Fabric texture and hair removal vary between individual garments. Check an item’s finish and care instructions rather than assuming that every material of one type will release fur easily.
