The Cat Fanciers’ Association describes the Siberian as a Russian native breed with a substantial build and a layered coat. Its profile gives mature male weights of roughly 12–18 lb (5.4–8.2 kg) and female weights of 8–12 lb (3.6–5.4 kg), with most reaching full size by about three years.
These figures describe a breed range; they do not set a healthy target for every cat. Use your cat’s current weight, body condition and resting measurements. Do not choose a bed, entrance or tower from an assumed shoulder-height table or from fur volume.
The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology states that there are no truly hypoallergenic cat breeds. A Siberian should not be marketed as a safe choice for someone with cat allergy. Claims about lower allergen production do not establish that a particular person can tolerate living with a particular cat.
If allergy or asthma is relevant to your household, speak with your clinician before choosing a pet. Grooming, cleaning visible hair or buying a different bed cannot guarantee symptom control.
Make regular coat checks part of the routine, paying attention to areas where tangles can be hidden. Cats Protection recommends daily brushing for long-haired cats. Adapt tools and gentle handling to the coat and the cat’s tolerance; there is no need to rank the Siberian as the most demanding coat of every breed.
Do not force a comb through a tight mat or cut it out with scissors. Ask your vet about safe removal if matting is close to the skin, painful or extensive, or if grooming behaviour changes. The Cashmere Comb set contains several care accessories, but each tool should be chosen for an appropriate task and used according to its instructions.
Choose a complete food for the appropriate life stage and review portions against your cat’s condition and needs. Slow physical maturity is not by itself a reason to continue kitten food for several years. Follow product guidance and your vet’s advice; Cats Protection’s feeding guide explains life-stage feeding.
Request actual health-screening records when speaking with a breeder. Discuss examination and any heart-screening plan with your vet based on the cat’s history and findings, rather than assuming a universal periodic scan schedule. Cornell’s HCM guidance explains hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and its diagnosis. A general description of a breed as hardy is not a substitute for individual care.
Observe your cat’s preferences for interaction, play and undisturbed rest. Do not assume that every Siberian handles time alone in the same way or that a new behaviour has one explanation. Offer accessible resting places, scratching options and suitable play; discuss persistent changes with your vet.
Assess the whole home, including secure openings and routes to resources. A thick coat does not make outdoor conditions automatically suitable. In a shared home, give cats choices beyond one tower or resting location.

No breed can be assumed safe for someone with cat allergy. AAAAI states that there are no truly hypoallergenic cat breeds. Discuss allergy or asthma concerns with your clinician before choosing a cat.
CFA gives approximate mature weights of 12–18 lb for males (5.4–8.2 kg) and 8–12 lb for females (3.6–5.4 kg). Individual cats vary, and these ranges are not ideal-weight targets or product-fit measurements.
Not simply because the breed matures slowly. Follow the selected food’s life-stage guidance and ask your vet about growth, portions and body condition.
No. Check usable resting areas, access routes, full assembled dimensions and the exact model’s load and installation requirements. Base shape and breed name alone cannot establish suitability.
