Explore furniture for large cats
The Savannah was developed from domestic cats and the African serval. TICA accepted the breed for registration in 2001 and championship status in 2012. Its profile describes a tall, lean, medium-to-large cat, with females generally smaller and sometimes quite petite. Read TICA's Savannah profile.
Generation labels describe ancestry; they are not furniture sizes. Do not assume that every F1 cat exceeds a product's limit or that every F3-or-later cat fits it. Record your own cat's current weight, relaxed resting dimensions and the space needed to turn comfortably.
For a growing cat, reassess fit as they develop. Ask for usable platform and enclosure measurements rather than relying on overall height or external capacity. Our size guide provides a starting point.
Before acquiring a cat with recent wild ancestry, obtain its documented ancestry and check the requirements where you live. GOV.UK explains that hybrid animals may need a licence depending on how far removed they are from their wild ancestor. Ask your local council if you are unsure. A breed name or a seller's reassurance alone does not establish the position for an individual cat.
Savannahs are often active, curious and interested in exploring. Plan regular daily interaction, play and opportunities to scratch and rest. Some enjoy learning games, but follow the individual cat's preferences. A climbing structure adds an option; it does not replace interaction or a suitable home environment.
Keep access routes clear and household hazards secured. If considering outdoor access, assess how it will be safely managed. Introduce a harness gradually if your cat accepts one; do not assume any harness is escape-proof. Introduce other pets carefully rather than treating a companion animal as an automatic solution to boredom.
TICA describes a short coat needing occasional grooming, with more attention during shedding. Check the coat and skin regularly and keep handling gentle.
Choose a complete food suitable for life stage, provide fresh water and adjust portions around body condition and individual needs. An ancestry label is not a feeding allowance. Consult your vet about weight changes or any medical diet, and see Cats Protection's feeding guidance.
Discuss preventive care and relevant family health history with your vet. Ask breeders for actual health reports and what any tests cover. This guide does not prescribe a universal screening schedule or imply that a genetic test rules out all heart disease. Changes in eating, activity or movement deserve individual veterinary advice.
| Purpose | Options | Before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Climbing and resting | The Feline Sovereign Spire, The Cat-Cave and The Ultimate PawHouse | Confirm usable platform dimensions, load limits, access and installation requirements for your cat and room. |
| Litter facilities | The Bothy — ask about this product | Confirm the exact unit's requirements and internal space. Suitability cannot be inferred from the Savannah's generation. |
| A separate bed | The Velvet Nest | Compare the selected variant's usable sleeping area with your cat's measurements; XL is not an automatic choice. |
| Scratching and play | The Paw-villian and Scratch Central | Review surface dimensions, intended use and your cat's preferred scratching position. |

Size varies. TICA describes a tall, lean, medium-to-large breed, with females generally smaller. Measure the individual cat rather than using generation as a size guarantee.
Requirements can depend on the individual cat's ancestry. Check the current guidance and consult your local council before acquiring a cat if you are unsure.
Compare the exact tray's entrance, internal usable space and operating requirements with your cat. Neither a breed name nor an F-generation label confirms fit.
A climbing option may be useful, but usable space, comfortable access and confirmed installation and load requirements matter alongside height. Choose for the individual cat and room.
