Change the order of a cat tree's platforms only when the manufacturer's instructions explicitly permit that layout for the exact model. Components that appear to fit the same connector are not necessarily interchangeable. A flat-pack tree is not automatically a modular system with freely rearrangeable levels.
Distinguish adjustment from a new assembly
An adjustable ceiling fitting changes the intended installation height within a stated range. It does not automatically authorise removing a support, swapping a condo for a shelf or moving a platform to a different joint. Likewise, a permitted orientation adjustment is not permission to change the order of structural parts.
The Modern Vine has a listed 230–250cm height range and six tiered platforms. Treat those as specifications for the supplied model. Do not interpret its adjustable height as a promise that all six levels can be rebuilt in any order.
Read the parts list before deciding two pieces are identical
Use component labels in the supplied instructions. Compare the designated position of each part rather than relying only on colour, apparent length or the fact that a bolt starts to turn. Do not force a connection, substitute a fixing or drill an extra hole to make an alternative arrangement work.
If an instruction is unclear, photograph the relevant parts before continuing and send the model details to the supplier. Keep the cat away from an incomplete assembly. A photograph of another owner's modified tower does not replace approval for yours.
Describe the layout problem instead of proposing only a swap
Tell the supplier what you need to change: perhaps a platform projects into a doorway, a condo faces the wrong direction or the route to a resting area does not suit your cat. Include a marked photograph or sketch showing the conflict. Ask whether the manual permits an alternative layout and which exact instructions apply.
This leaves room for a clearer answer, such as rotating the whole correctly assembled tower in a compatible location, choosing another model or discussing a separately specified bespoke design. None of those possibilities should be assumed feasible before the relevant dimensions and installation are checked.
If the tower has already been changed
Keep the cat off it while you seek model-specific advice. Retain the original parts and instructions, and describe exactly what was moved, omitted or replaced. Do not use a cat's successful jump as proof that a modified structure is suitable, or assume the original load rating still covers an unapproved configuration.
