Two cats can weigh the same and take up different amounts of room. That matters when choosing an enclosed litter box such as the Dome, which is listed for cats up to 6.8kg. Use that stated limit as one requirement, then build a separate record of the space your particular cat needs.
The product's overall dimensions are 46 × 46 × 64cm. They describe the exterior enclosure, including its front transparent door panel, rather than a guaranteed usable interior. A broad British Shorthair and a longer-bodied cat should not be assessed solely by the same number on a set of scales.
Record the tray your cat already uses
Start with familiar equipment. Note the clear internal floor dimensions, entry dimensions and entry height of the current tray. Record whether it is open or enclosed and whether your cat can turn and dig without appearing restricted by the sides.
Use calm observations and existing measurements where possible. There is no need to restrain your cat or put them inside an improvised size test. If a body measurement is difficult to obtain without upsetting them, record the uncertainty and seek help rather than forcing the measurement.
Be precise about which figures you have. Label the tray's outside width separately from its internal width, and distinguish an opening from the doorway frame around it. That prevents apparently similar measurements being compared when they describe different parts of the products.
Ask for the matching Dome measurements
Send your record to the supplier and request the Dome's usable interior dimensions, clear door opening and entry height. Ask which measurements include internal moulding or other features that affect the available space. A dimensioned photograph or drawing is more helpful than being told only that the box is large.
Compare each matched figure individually. A taller enclosure does not automatically compensate for a narrower floor area, and meeting the 6.8kg listing does not answer the door question. If your cat exceeds the listed limit, do not disregard it because another measurement appears generous.
