Why a photograph is not a parts list
A platform can be partly hidden by the post, another level or the camera angle. A base plate, ceiling pad or decorative element may also resemble a usable level. Product images are useful for understanding the general form, but an exact count should come from the current specification or supplied assembly instructions.
Request a platform schedule
Ask for a table or labelled drawing that gives each platform a reference and states:
- its position above the finished floor;
- its outer and usable length, width or diameter;
- the clear gap to the next intended level;
- whether it is a resting platform, access step or structural part;
- the documented load information that applies to it.
This makes the count meaningful. Several small access steps are not the same as several full resting surfaces.
Keep the 40 × 40cm base in context
The listed base footprint describes the floor contact area, not the complete outline of projecting platforms or the space a cat uses while approaching them. Request the widest assembled projection and leave access to the sisal-wrapped post. Do not assume that every part of the tower stays inside the base square.
Check the vertical route
The Spire adjusts between 240 and 280cm using a pressure-and-friction fitting. That height range explains which ceilings may be considered; it does not reveal the gap between platforms. Compare the confirmed level spacing and usable surfaces with the individual cat and preserve a suitable route down as well as up.
Read platform loads individually
The listing states 10–15kg per platform and up to 50kg total distributed across the tower. For a cat over 10kg, Giant Paws asks customers to confirm the relevant platform capacity. Do not divide the whole-tower figure by an assumed number of platforms or treat the total as a personal allowance for one level.
