A kitten wearing a harness and a kitten responding to an attached lead are two different stages. It is tempting to unpack a new set and try everything together, but separating those introductions gives you a clearer view of how your kitten feels about each part.
The Kitten Harness set provides a soft mesh vest and a matching lead with a clip attachment. The vest has a back D-ring, dual-side buckles and four adjusters. Having the parts together is convenient; it does not mean they all need to be introduced on the first day.
Begin with the familiar stage
Before adding the lead, your kitten should have had gradual, supervised indoor introductions to the correctly fitted harness. Check current measurements against the selected size and follow the supplied fitting instructions. Do not use a breed label or age as a substitute for checking fit.
If wearing the vest still seems unfamiliar or unwelcome, leave the lead for another time. A new attachment is unlikely to make that stage simpler. There is no need to reach an outdoor milestone on a particular date, and some cats may not suit harness activities.

Add one change in a quiet indoor space
Check the harness buckles, adjusters, D-ring and lead clip before use. Choose an indoor area with space to observe your kitten and without obstacles where the lead could catch. Attach the lead as instructed and keep the introduction supervised throughout.
Avoid pulling your kitten towards you to demonstrate what the lead does. The purpose of the first introduction is to observe their response to the new attachment, not to complete a route around the room. End the session if it is not going comfortably and return to a simpler stage later.
Do not leave the lead attached when your attention moves elsewhere. It should not become another object for your kitten to trail through furniture or climb around.
Review before repeating
Afterwards, check the equipment and note which part was comfortable or unfamiliar. Keep the next session based on that observation rather than automatically adding more distance or a new location.
No harness is guaranteed escape-proof. Continue checking fit as your kitten grows, and do not assume this kitten set will suit their adult dimensions. A calm indoor introduction is useful because it leaves you time to notice those details before any more complex activity.
