Only steam-clean a cat tree if the furniture's care instructions permit it for the exact parts you intend to treat and your cleaner's instructions support that use. A plush surface, an upholstery attachment or a “washable” description is not enough to establish whole-tree compatibility.
Identify what the steam would reach
Separate removable textiles from fixed fabric, scratching posts, platforms, seams and joints in your care notes. A covered platform may include components that are not visible from above. Do not assume the care rule for its top fabric also applies to its underside, attachment or internal construction.

Distinguish steam from other cleaning methods
A steam cleaner, a spray-extraction upholstery machine and a vacuum are not interchangeable instructions. When asking about compatibility, give the appliance type and model, the part you want to clean and the reason for cleaning. Avoid asking only whether the tree can be “deep cleaned”.
Do not add a cleaning solution or fragrance unless both relevant sets of instructions explicitly permit it. A hidden-area fabric test cannot by itself establish the suitability of an entire covered platform or joint, and it is not a substitute for permission to use the method.
Choose a permitted routine while you clarify
For loose hair, start with the furniture's allowed dry-cleaning or vacuuming methods. If a cover is designed to come off, follow that cover's separate washing directions; do not remove fixed upholstery to imitate a removable part.

If the tower has already been steamed
If you notice altered fabric, swelling, looseness or another change, keep the affected furniture out of use and contact the seller with photographs and the method used. Do not try to restore its appearance with more heat or cover an affected area before it has been assessed.
This is a compatibility checklist, not a disinfection protocol. Where cleaning follows an animal illness, obtain appropriate advice for that situation as well as confirming that the proposed treatment is suitable for the furniture.
