Cat Furniture Near a Ceiling Fan or Pendant Light

Tall crescent-shaped Moon Collection design reference with upper platforms that need overhead room clearance.

When checking a tall piece of cat furniture, look above its highest platform. A cat standing or reaching there occupies more space than the furniture alone. Ceiling fans, pendant lights and hanging cords need to be considered before the tower is placed.

Map the fitting's full position

Record the lowest part of a pendant and the full area swept by a fan. Include cords, chains and any movement of a hanging fitting. A measurement to the ceiling misses these lower obstructions.

Consider the cat above the platform

Do not measure clearance only from the top of the frame. Think about the cat standing, stretching or moving from the highest usable surface. There is no single clearance figure in the Giant Paws references that can establish a safe position for every fan, fitting and cat.

Choose a position without access to the hazard

Keep climbing furniture away from fittings the cat could reach. Turning a fan off temporarily does not solve the underlying layout problem if it may be switched on later. Follow the fitting manufacturer's instructions and obtain appropriate advice if the room arrangement is uncertain.

Include the overhead detail in a bespoke brief

For a tall reference such as the Moon Collection, send a side view of the room with the fitting marked. Ask whether a different height or platform arrangement is feasible, and confirm the final design rather than adapting a completed tower yourself.

Compare ready-to-order towers with the complete overhead space in mind, or discuss a room-specific arrangement through the bespoke collection.
