A wall measurement taken above the skirting can overstate the space available at the floor. Before positioning substantial cat furniture, check the projection of the skirting and any other low-level detail. A small difference matters when you are planning a close fit or a specified wall restraint.
Record height and projection
Measure how far the skirting extends from the wall and how high it reaches. Include any corner blocks or changes along the proposed furniture position. Photograph the detail with the measurement points visible rather than sending only a room-wide image.
Check which part of the furniture meets it
Compare the base, upper frame and any fixing location separately. A stepped base may meet the wall differently from the main structure. Do not assume a gap visible in a product photograph establishes the required clearance for your installation.
Keep the intended support arrangement
Do not cut away the base, add an improvised spacer or move a fixing point without an approved method. If the instructions require a restraint, ask how the actual wall and skirting arrangement should be handled. A closer visual fit is not a reason to depart from the intended assembly.
Make the detail part of a bespoke brief
