A kitten harness often spends more time put away than being worn. What happens between sessions matters: a tangled lead, missing instructions or forgotten size choice can turn the next introduction into a rushed search. A simple storage routine makes it easier to start calmly and check the equipment properly.

Put away equipment, not a toy
After the supervised session, remove the harness and lead and store them out of your kitten's reach. Avoid leaving the lead draped over cat furniture, across a doorway or beside an inviting play area. Storage should separate it from objects your kitten can explore independently.
Choose a place where the mesh and straps will not be crushed under heavy objects or caught in a drawer. Keep the lead arranged so you can check its length and clip easily when you take it out. Do not use storage as an excuse to leave the lead attached to the kitten.
If the equipment needs cleaning, follow the supplied care instructions and allow it to be ready for storage as directed. Do not assume that a mesh vest can be washed in any convenient way simply because it feels soft.
Keep the information with the set
Save the selected size, fitting instructions and the date of your kitten's most recent measurements. A note about the last comfortable session can also help: wearing the vest briefly and accepting the attached lead are separate observations.
Adjuster positions are a useful starting reference, not permanent proof of fit. A growing kitten may need a fresh size assessment between uses. This is particularly relevant if the harness has been in a cupboard for a while.

Make unpacking the next inspection
Before fitting it again, look over the vest, buckles, adjusters, D-ring and lead attachment. Compare current measurements with the selected size, then follow the fitting guidance. Introduce use gradually indoors and remain present throughout.
No harness can guarantee against escape. Good storage simply supports a better next session: the right parts are available, the instructions are close by and you have a clear reason to check everything again.
