A little preparation makes a flat-pack delivery easier to manage. Before joining the first post, find the instructions, count the parts and make sure the final position can accommodate the required installation. Keep your cat outside the working area until the piece is complete.
Open and check before discarding packaging
Photograph visible damage to the packaging and inspect the components as you unpack them. Keep order details and part labels together. Compare quantities with the supplied list, including small fasteners and any restraint hardware. If something is missing or damaged, contact the seller before continuing with an improvised substitute.
Read the whole sequence
Look through the instructions before starting so you know which parts become difficult to reach later. Identify similar-looking posts by the specified measurements or labels. Use the tools and tightening method required for the model. A video for another tower may not show the same connections or order of assembly.
Prepare the working area
Choose enough floor space to lay out parts without blocking the room's exit. Protect surfaces in a way that does not hide small components. Keep packaging, plastic bags and loose fittings away from pets. If the instructions require two people, arrange that help before reaching the relevant step.
Check the final installation
Assemble and position the piece as directed, including any required restraint. Confirm that doors, curtains and nearby furniture still move normally. Do not let a cat climb a partly assembled structure. If an instruction or fitting remains unclear, stop and ask for clarification rather than testing it through use.
Keep a useful record
