A product's overall height does not always equal the length available for scratching. Bases, top caps and neighbouring platforms can change the usable surface. For a large cat, ask what the measurement actually includes before comparing two posts.
Find the start and end of the scratching material
Look for the uninterrupted section the cat can reach. Request a measurement if it is not supplied. Do not subtract guessed amounts from a photograph or treat a tower's total height as one continuous scratching length.
Watch a natural stretch

Check the approach and support
