Compare the usable scratching surface
For an upright post, request the uninterrupted sisal length between the base, caps, platforms and joins. Ask for the clear diameter or circumference and note whether nearby components restrict the cat's approach. A tower's overall height is not a scratching-surface measurement.
Standalone and integrated posts serve different layouts
Scratch Central creates a dedicated floor-level station, while a tower places sisal within a climbing and resting route. Consider where the cat already chooses to scratch and whether the selected surface will be reachable from a stable standing position.
