Start with the controlled design

Name the installed components
Create a short schedule for platforms, bridges, condos, pads, scratching panels, covers and other serviceable parts. Match each name or code to the drawing. Record which components are intended to be removable or replaceable without implying that an unlisted part can be altered.
Attach material-specific care information
Keep the supplied cleaning method for each relevant finish, fabric, filling and scratching surface. Avoid reducing several instructions to one phrase such as “wipe clean”. Note which covers or pads can be removed and which parts must remain in place.
Show inspection access
Include the maker's stated check points, fastener references and safe access sequence. For wall-mounted work, retain the wall information and installation location agreed for the project. Record nearby sockets, skirting, door swings or other features only where they affect the installed piece. Do not treat a record as approval to move or reinstall the furniture elsewhere.
Add support and ownership details
Store the quote or order reference, installation date, maker contact route and any supplied warranty or service terms. Keep private payment information separately. If the home changes hands or another person becomes responsible, walk through the physical furniture as well as sending the files.
