For a removable resting pad, the approved bespoke specification should identify the pad as a separate component and state its finished size, attachment method, removal direction and care instructions. The word “cushioned” does not establish that a cover, insert or complete pad can be taken off.
Begin with the broader bespoke cat furniture design brief, then add a small component schedule for every resting pad.
Name every pad on the drawing
Give each one a simple reference such as P1, P2 and P3. Match the reference to the exact platform, basket or condo floor. This prevents one note about a removable pad from being read as applying to every soft surface.
Record the finished outline
State the length, width or diameter of the finished pad and identify any cut-outs, curves or tapered edges. If it sits inside a raised rim, ask for the clear recess size as well as the visible platform size. A pad copied from the outer platform measurement may not fit within surrounding edges.
Define what actually detaches
Ask whether the cover alone, the inner pad, or both can be removed. Record the proposed fastening and the direction in which the part comes out. Check that a nearby post, roof or guard does not block removal after the furniture is installed.
Keep care claims specific
Obtain the care instructions for the exact fabric, filling and fastening. “Washable” is incomplete unless the agreed information states which part can be washed and how. Avoid assuming that a removable cover means the filling can also go into a washing machine.
Confirm the hard surface underneath
The drawing should show the finished surface left when a pad is removed and whether the furniture may be used in that state. Do not add an aftermarket pad that hides fixings, extends over an edge or interferes with a designed route without checking suitability.
Compare ready-made and bespoke separately
A ready-to-order tower such as the Highland Retreat has its own published configuration. Do not assume a bespoke-pad requirement applies to that product, or that a photograph proves its soft surfaces are detachable.
The same component logic also helps when you specify replaceable scratching panels.
